October, the Most Wicked Month

Hi loves,

It's been a while since I last posted here so I won't try and catch up on everything. If we know each other well, you're already in the loop, and if we don't, well, I suppose you'll be just fine without a blow by blow. All our lives are busy and complicated. All of us only have so much bandwidth to spare.

The big highlights were an incredibly beautiful trip to Scotland and Ireland this summer:

And lots of social time with good folks once we returned:

Now the kids are back in school, the leaves are falling, and my youngest and I recently had a wonderful time camping on Orcas Island with his classmates.

Since then, autumn ailments have knocked us down a few rungs, I'm afraid. =/ October looks to be an insanely busy month with lotsa travel. I can't say I'm thrilled about all of it, but I know there'll be plenty of laughter and love throughout. And glitter... more on that anon. ;)

This site was always meant to be a space to post about writing so here's an update: Right now I'm revising my middle grade novel about time and planning revisions on my recent adult novel, Breakwater. Hoping to finish up the first set of revisions by Sirens at the end of the month, and launch into Breakwater again while there.

Pleased to say I'm still writing a few Bandit Songs on the side while Michael and I are slowly recording and polishing the last of the Mermaid Songs.

Last, but not least, I have a new short story out in the fourth annual Sirens Benefit Anthology. The story is titled "Eldeen" and the anthology is "Heroes & Hellions".

I'm truly grateful to the devoted crew of volunteers who put this anthology together each year. If you have a few bucks to spare, the digital version is a good deal and the paperback version sure is pretty. All proceeds benefit Sirens Conference, a wonderful space for women in fantasy literature.

I realized recently that I actually have a pretty great lookin' collection of titles available out in the world. None of them are novels... not yet... and that's the ultimate dream, but I'm proud of plenty of these beauties.

So here's to making art, to selling it, to supporting great organizations, and to believing that stories matter.

Much love to you all, always,
Edie
